Bakhchisaray, a capital of the Crimean Khanate, is famous for the same named palace. The Bakhchisaray Palace was founded in 1532 as a patrimonial residence of Tartar sovereigns. Nowadays, the big Mosque still stands high with its minarets; living premises with harem, towers, halls, and fountains remain the only existing sample of the Tartar palace architecture; stained glasses and charming ornamental elements breathe with the oriental charm.
Another outstanding sight you will visit is Chufut-Kale, the best preserved cave town in the Crimea. Standing on a plateau at 200-meter height above the surrounding valleys and bordered with 50-meter steep cliffs, the ancient town still has defense towers, walls, gates, cells and storage rooms carved in rocks. Here you will see a mausoleum of the first Golden Horde female politician Janike-Kanym. Chufut-Kale means Judaic Fortress, thus Karait legacy of kenasa shrines is also there.
And finally, you will see a magnificent Christian Orthodox temple - Uspensky Monastery built right in the rock, white-walled with frescoes, with broad staircase carved in cliff above the scenic Mariam-Dere gorge.
On this tour you will see very unlike but equally powerful sights. These are amazing!
